The Blessing of the Fleet is an event that evolved from the rich history of  Potomac River watermen, the historical significance of St. Clement’s Island, and the cultural uniqueness of St. Mary’s County. This home-grown event embraces the roots of its people and shares this community’s traditions and culture with an ever-changing and fast-paced modern world.

Presented by the Optimist Club of the Seventh District, this two-day event features a myriad  of activities, demonstrations, music, food, fireworks, special events and more designed to entertain and educate the whole family!

The Blessing of the Fleet offers a riverside venue at the St. Clement’s Island – Potomac River Museum in Colton’s Point, St. Mary’s County, Maryland. The museum rests on the shore of the Potomac River and overlooks historic St. Clement’s Island, birthplace of Maryland.
